i went to H&M yesterday and bought some jeans and this crazy bra. its neon and lace and so fun. although 80% of my clothes are grey, tan or black, i have a serious soft spot for neon pink. i would never wear a whole neon shirt or anything but when a little bit peeks out, like this bra, or for nail polish, i think i looks really nice.

super dark wash jeans.
on an unrelated note, the gold color in the 'shocked' HIP duo is one of my favorite colors. i dust it onto the lid with a fluffy brush and then put a tiny bit of a cool matte brown shadow for the crease. its very light but flattering.

im hoping it will only be a few more days until i get my camera charger. I've missed blogging properly so much. hope you don't mind these photobooth pictures too much. <3

after weeks of pondering the ever troublesome question (to grow-out or not to grow-out), i trimmed my bangs.

my bangs are never as full or well behaved as other people's, mainly due to the fact that a) i cut them myself, b)i have three cow-licks in the front of my head alone, and c) on an average day i spend literally 60 seconds doing my hair. but all in all im pleased with the outcome. sometimes you just need a change. feel me?

man i wish that was a real contest. the act of having a beauty/fashion/living and loving life blog seems to contradict my strong desire to be a dirty, farming, no make up wearing, pick up truck-driving, organic vegetable eating, living in a yurt, guitar-strumming, yoga-doing, kombucha-drinking hippy. people like that were my idols, my role models and my teachers growing up, maybe one day i will get to try it out.

ANYWAYS, my friends and i are doing a seaside vacation pt.2 in a couple of weeks and we're planning a HCNO, or hippy chick night out, similar to a GNO, girls night out, but themed and more hilarious. this is what i will be wearing.

im not a big fan of t-shirts. don't get me wrong some people can rock them, but being a curvier and more busty girl than most i find the average t-shirt terribly unflattering. this is roughly the process i go through when altering a shirt.

1.find a a shirt with an appealing design/color

2. make the first basic cuts.

3. put on the shirt and make the rest of the cuts (this is the only time i actually wear the shirt while cutting), this is the step where i make decisions about things such as strap thickness, what time of neckline and how low cut to make it.

tank tops such as these may not create a very polished look but they are comfortable, affordable, and unique.

this is one of my favorite ways to wear my hair but i hardly ever do. unfortunately i have layers and so different portions of my hair are always coming undone and poking out, my hair is also incredibly fine and straight so its a challenge just to keep it up in a bun for more than an hour. fishtail braids also takes a fair bit of time, and i am not a girl who can spend more than 3 minuets on my hair.

(i'm going through a black and white kick, the likes of which i haven't experienced since i was 12. don't hold it against me.)

so its 3:30 in the morning and I've set a goal. its going to be expensive, cause disruptions in my daily life, and sometimes feel like more work than its worth. sounds fun right?

i am determined to be paraben-free by fall. this means i will be starting from the ground up. im excited. i want to treat my body correctly. people focus on eating right and working out (which is obviously very important) without realizing that they are loading toxic chemicals into their bodies. im done putting my health at risk for vanity's sake. it will undoubtedly be painful to part with some of my much loved beauty items. im scared to check out the world of natural hair care.

i've compiled a huge list of all the products i will need to find replacements for. my feeling is i may become even more of a minimalist with makeup due to the cost of parben free cosmetics.

not matter the outcome, im just a girl who thrives on working towards something at all times. goals like these are a fun challenge for me.

this was an extra large men's shirt and i cut extra large arm holes and then cut it up the back and took it in. that created a cool racer back effect, completely to my surprise. its one of those cheesey italian pride shirts but i love to rep my heritage whenever i get a chance haha (: the bottom half of this outfit is my summer uniform. shortshorts and white canvas sneaks. you really can't go wrong. it enhances the look of a tan and you have more freedom to move around and explore than if you were to wear flip flops.

i was in search of a place to go swimming today and wore my swimsuit for a majority of the day in the hopes we'd find some new place. ended up just getting some sun on the lawn with my best friend and my big sister. so much fun!

when i found this weird silk skirt at the thrift store, it came down to my ankles and was so big up top that it rested very low on my hips. but i had a clear dream for it, experience has taught me that there is very little scissors and a belt can't fix. the pattern is comprised of pink cranes, green geometric-looking leaves, and small orange and blue diamonds. its rather unique.

my friend recently gave me this shirt. its a color scheme, print, and fit that i wouldn't usually go for but i think thats what i like about it.

for the most part, i've sworn off tops that have this type of band at the bottom, i think its overused, unflattering and makes an outfit look cheap. but rules, especially surrounding style, are made to be broken. I used to think rich earth tones such as these would look odd on my freakishly pale skin. but im kinda digging it, especially with my tan.

do you ever get the urge to do something you hate? i do, all the time. i sometimes crave coffee, even though it makes me sick. somedays i really want shrimp, even though i hate seafood. i constantly wish to be the type of person who throws on running shoes and goes for a run, despite the fact that the idea of exercising in public makes me a little nauseous.

Todays bizarre need is to to clean out the ancient litter from under my bed. my room was already a disaster. but this seemed like it really had to be done.

lesson learned? never come back from three weeks away and wait to unpack. baaaad idea! hahah

i got an iphone. im still not believing it. im so scared and intimidated to have something this nice. (: my case is pretty much indestructible, and as a little bonus, really reminds me of a storm trooper!

i made dinner. im learing more and more about cooking and im loving it. plus i love using vibrant colored foods, and that gives me many photo opportunities. for more, check out my flickr!

today i received some rings i ordered off of ebay a million years ago! i was so excited, they fit really well and cost only 1.26$ with 5$ shipping, which i would have payed for just the lion head (my favorite) but the Buddha head is a nice little bonus i guess. i would say they were a really good deal despite having to wait forever. ebay is really fun for me in an extremely nerdy way, it gets me really nervous, but winning is kinda a rush!

i bought some nail polish today in the shade "i pink i can" which seems like the perfect summer shade. i also got the NYC blushable creme sticks because so many people rave about the benefits of cream blushes in the summer. they are ridiculously pigmented to the point where they're almost hard to work with but i think i'll find a way to make them work.

OH MY LORD, DO I LOVE THIS BRUSH! its like i never knew what my face products were capable of until i used it, if that makes any sense.

the way this brush applies MSF, blot powder and bare minerals foundation and tinted moisturizer is truly incredible.its soft on the skin and makes for a flawless face, never cakey or overly powdered.

i have to say that this is the first thing i've bought from the body shop that hasn't disappointed me and i think thats because i didn't let any of the pesky sales assistants push me into anything stupid, i knew what i wanted and i went for it. the brush is 26$, which is a substantial investment but its not too bad compared to the price of a MAC kabuki which is over 50$ if memory serves.

im taking advantage of the recent cool weather and wearing jeans, im sure this will be one of the last times for a while. wearing long tank tops give me horrible 7th grade flash backs, but its sort of necessary with this american apparel sweater which can ride up quite a bit. this is an entirely thrifted outfit!

this dress was a present from my ultimate fashion-inspiration, and older sister. she picked up during her recent trip to england. its from new look i think.

it comes with some simple, removable straps, and i added this belt because its a bit too big, but its far more comfortable and attractive to work with a piece of clothing that is too big than too small. this dress will get a lot of use this summer, i can tell. im feeling the abstract print, it sort of reminds me of leaves.

CVS had one of their 50-75% off sales today on certain items and so i picked up this Sally Hansen lipstick, originally 7.99 but i got it for 2 something. not a bad deal.

The shade is called Plum Rose 1030-25 Rose prune, and as soon as i put it on i felt like a 90's smoothie, made up of three parts Joey Potter, one part Monica Geller, and a splash of Keri Russell from Felicity . this is due, mostly to the strong brown undertone of the lipstick.

Having said that, im actually an embarrassingly enthusiastic fan of 90's television, and i feel like i will come back to this color more in the fall and see what i can do with it. This lipstick is pretty nice, is moisturizing and lasts an average amount of time. swatch and pictures below:

I've been excited over the idea of dry shampoo for a while now. i have very thick, naturally straight hair and it gets shiny and oily looking quickly, it also dries out easily. if i shower too much my normally impeccably behaved hair becomes unruly straw. i was so excited when i noticed these two products at the drug store. i bought the Tresemme Fresh start dry shampoo(TFT for short), and the Salon Grafix (SG) invisible dry shampoo. heres a little compare and contrast list

earlier this year i got cystic acne. what a nightmare. bumpy, painful, impossible to hide, i was totally discouraged. now, with some help from my doctor, i have it all cleared up, and although i fear jinxing my new found clear skin, i realized the other day how lucky i was to be able to hold all the makeup i need for a day in my two hands, and feel more confident than ever. pretty empowering.

i recently saw The Blindside and have been obsessed with Sandra Bullock's watch ever since. so classy yet unique. i've been looking for something like it and have come up with a several thousand dollar Chanel option(that i could never rationalize, or afford), and a $135 watch from Guess; still a stretch but i'm REALLY into this watch. haha

like most people when the weather gets nice, i tend to wear a lot less makeup. now that i have my skin mostly under control (hope i don't jinx it) I've switched to a lovely tinted moisturizer by Kiss My Face, in the shade Beach. this is very light a thin with some light coverage. i like how it stays put, with very little transfer onto clothes, hands, ect. (9.99$ for 1.4 0z.)

for eyes I've either been dusting my entire eye lid with a very light sandy gold shadow using my MAC 224SE or smudging some of this Milani LIQUIF'EYE eye liner in brown(4.59$), into my lash line which is more subtle that my usual liquid black liner, faster and easier to apply, and helps the blue of my eyes to stand out as well. to top it all off i use L'oreal Voluminous mascara(6.89$) because i like the look of it, how it doesn't flake, and how when i remove it, it ALL comes off.

i hate lipgloss, in my experience it is usually sticky, drying and tastes foul. but i did quite a lot of research and found these L'oreal HIP jelly balms (9$) and I'm happy with my purchase in the color 'Plush'. its not too sticky, definitely not drying and has the lightest scent of any drugstore lip product i've ever tired. It is barely pigmented on the lip but i really enjoy tinted products for spring.

in the last couple days i've said the word "stressed" so many time it has lost all meaning.

my room is horrifyingly messy and my SAT book remains largely blank. i haven't been to the gym in a week and may very well be going insane (: . today is rainy and uncommonly cold for April, so i will be drinking tea, listening to Harry Potter, doing laundry, test prep, going to the gym and making a summer shopping list.

lately i've been obsessed with eyebrows. i love the shapes people create and how every little variation in shape/size changes the whole look of their face.

i've had fun shading in my eyebrows with a matte brown shadow, but as with most things i prefer the natural look for myself.
